Gather information about the books already out there on your subject and assess how your book will be different. Don’t be afraid to admit that books on your subject already exist; it might just be an indicator that your subject is popular and a good market for your content. Exercise: Gather six books that would compete with yours and write down all the ways your book will be different. Will there be pictures, famous quotes, interviews, statistics, a new perspective? What about your book will stand out? You’ll want to focus on this information as you finish writing your content, and possibly use it in your book proposal.
